November's Customer Spotlight - Ilse McKee of Escondido, CA.

I’m so happy to introduce you to Ilse, Owner of @sweetescapehtsd

✨How were you first introduced to Narrow-Gauge Designs (NGD)? What initially attracted you to the jewelry? Was it the design? Materials? Story?

“ I’ve followed this page for a long time, I think the uniqueness of the brand/jewelry was what initially attracted me to want to learn more about each individual piece of jewelry created by Narrow-Gauge Designs. “

✨Do you have a favorite piece of NGD jewelry? Was it from a collection or was it a custom design?

“ When I first looked at the website I fell in love with the turquoise bracelet that was displayed. This is when I learned that each piece of jewelry created is not something she just makes and keeps in stock. Each piece is handcrafted with uniqueness and detail, but always keeping the customer in mind. Now my favorite piece is my own turquoise and hematite wrap bracelet that I let NGD have full freedom of creating. ”

✨Jewelry is a creative outlet for me. Do you have a creative outlet or is your job your passion?

“ My background is cosmetology/makeup, but after having kids and becoming a stay at home mom my passion is baking. Baking became something so therapeutic that I just had to learn the science behind it. I spent a lot of years perfecting basic things like cupcakes and frosting, to cookies and figuring out why some turn out flat. I finally did something about it and decided to open up my own business as a cottage baker. You can find me at pop ups and markets in North County SD. “

✨ Where does NGD jewelry accompany you? Activities? Special Occasions? Work? Exciting travel locales?

“ Everywhere possible. I stopped wearing jewelry when I became a mom because I always had someone yanking my earrings or necklaces. Now that we have outgrown that stage I’m starting to wear more earrings and bracelets. My wrap bracelet is worn almost everyday, errands, school drop offs, bake sales, just everywhere. “

✨If you could step back in time to any decade or era, which would you choose? Why?

“ Hair and makeup related I would say the 60’s, there was a style for everyone regardless if your hair was short or long it always looked good. I also absolutely love the iconic Twiggy eye makeup. For fashion I would say the Edwardian/Titanic era and the 50s, this is the most feminine forward fashion time I would have loved to be a part of. “

✨Would you like to add anything else?

“ Thank you for my wrap bracelet! Your designs are truly stunning and unique. “
